I have a UTH (10 to 20 gal) for my 20 long. I havent had the time to get a probed thermostat so im dealing with very low placed air readers, my hot with no light fluctuates from 90 to around 96 and low is around 88 to 94. My UTH is mounted on the far side of the hot side. With lights it gets near 100 on both sides, my light sites on the far hot side. I just cannot get a low side for some reason. My tank is elevated about 1 inch from the stand for air flow. Any help would be appreciated. thank you.

After acquiring a infrared, i read 115 on the hot side and 88 cool side. I have promptly unplugged my UTH. I have a 75watt basking light on. Which is more advisable and how can i lower my cool side? My a/c is set to 80, but on a third floor in Va. temps can be tricky.

You don't need any lights. They are nocturnal. Their warm side needs to be around 90.
