A Leopard Gecko?

Hey all, this is my first time posting here, i was skimming the forums and it seem's everyone know's what they are talking about.
Anyway!

I have owned a Leopard Gecko before, but sadly it died, and i have no clue. I was devistated, it died a few days after my 14th and i had no clue how. it seemed healthy and happy as anyother day, i came home and it died.

Anyway, i left it for a couple of years, and did some reserch in that time every now and then.
Anyway, two years on i am now wiser and more mature to start looking after another one.
I was wondering IF the following pictures would suit a gecko, maybe even two?

I have NO desire what so ever to breed, and was wondering if anybody knew about what would happen if i had two female's in whith each other?

Here be my decorations for him. The box is a place for the gecko to shed.

That is my vivarium. Is that good enough for two or just one?
I was hand made by a breeder.

Finnaly that is my heat mat, it did the trick for three years.

Should i invest in anything, or do anyhting diffrently?
I want to make sure its perfect before buying one.

Cheers for the advice in advance!

What is the size of the cage? What are you planing on using for substract? You will need a couple more hides , a calcium dish and a temp gun or dig therameter with a probe to get the ground temps.

I am using this white calcium powered substact that the breeder told me was good if they ingest it by accident, aslong as it isn't in big doses.
I ahve a calcium dish already stored away in my cupboard.
Where can i get these temp guns from?

and how would i set it up?

Also the cage is also 24 inches x 15 inches

Calcium powdered sand is a big no-no for leopard geckos. Tile, paper towels, reptile carpet or even playground sand is better then calcium sand. They will become impacted. My wife is from England and she says try B&Q or any other hardware store. I know a few places here in the states but not sure if they would ship internationally.

It is not sand, the breeder said it was oyster chippings?
I don't know if that is normal, but the sound of paper towlls seems very attractive.

I have not heard of that but maybe later on today some of our members from Germany, Sweden and the UK and help you better.
I use paper towels for hatchlings and in my rack. In my tanks I have reptile carpet.

Yea, no loose substrate is good. Oyster shells are worse. Just use tile, towels, or repti-carpet. If you browsed the forum so much I am surprised you didn't see it, its pretty much in every other thread that someone posts. :main_huh:

Oh i see, intresting. I didnt know about crushed oyster becuase it seems unuseall. Paper towlls are the way to go i think.

Also, is it a good idea to house two gecko's in there?

I see, so two females will also fight, or have the chances increased of a fight?

You want to make sure you have a good temp gradient. 88-90 on the warm side 70 to 75 on the cool. Leopards do better with belly heat. As far as substrate goes. I would use tile. It is pretty cheap, a lot cheaper in the long run because all you have to do is clean it and put it back in. And as far as calcium sand or any other sand like substrate goes, they are all bad news for leos. Make sure the moist hide is on the cool side. It should be filled with moist paper towel, moss or vermiculite. Include a calcium dish, fresh water daily and Gut loaded mealies or crickets. As long as these basic needs are met you should have a very happy gecko, or geckos. If you are going to put 2 females together, make sure they are the same size. also make sure they both have their own hides. Leopards will get stressed if they have to compete for anything...

i find the nice part about papertowls is that when cleaning up you already have a wipe. plus if u do spray it holds bit of moister for bit whiel it dries up eventually it also doesn tdoany harm or make for pain in but clean up. and they cheap, i prefer the ones where you select a size for diferent size tubs and tanks usualyl 3-4 sections work perfect.
