Well i have finally secured my own leachie. Shes a GT, 7 inch, 90 gram beauty.
Ive had her for about 4 days now. At night she is ALL over her cage, exploring like crazy.

So whats the problem?

I haven't seen any activity at the food bowl. Completely untouched. Is this normal for this species/type of gecko? If so what would be a good waiting period to just watch, then start to worry if it surpasses a certain day?

I have held her a few times and dabbed some freshly mixed Repashy diet on the tip of her nose and mouth and every now and then she licks it right up. But not a thing on the food bowl.

Please let me know what any of you think.

Her cage is an 18 x 18 x 18 exo-terra open front terrarium. Planted. She likes to hide under a branch structure that has a broad leafed plant in the middle of it. Pretty well concealed.

Ill post some pics up after work.

Thanks

What kind of substrate do you use?
Are you seeing any poop in the cage?

While 90 grams is a pretty decent size for a gecko, you are most likely not going to see any dent in her food (even though she's probably eating) for a bit.
She's new and still adjusting. If she's active (and if she's pooping), then I wouldn't worry.

If she's licking some off your fingers, she'll be fine, imo.

If I were you, I'd look for poop. If she's pooping, she's eating.
And if there isn't any poop, still don't panic.
If you find just urates, that's good, too, because then you know she's hydrated.
Just give her some time to adjust.:D

4 days is still early. It might take her a bit to feel comfortable. You'll know when she eats. Mine cleans her dish when she's hungry, but she doesn't eat every day. You'll see the potties, too. They're pretty big (at least they are when they eat roaches, too).

Congrats on getting a leachie! Does yours 'talk' a lot yet?

Well, i stopped back by the house and looked in her cage. Yes she has def. "marked" the territory. : )

Fecal and urates. The soil is a very finely ground soil for terrariums purchased from Blackjungle.

I pulled her out earlier this morning and she was "chirping" a bit while walking around on my hands.

SHE ATE! I was super happy for that too!

I woke up and started getting ready for a wedding, took at a look at her and said to myself "She was in that exact same spot last night", then just when i looked down at the food bowl, half of it was gone!

W00t!
