I'm a little worried about Lana my leopard gecko. She's been doing great the last few months but but the past few days she's been constipated it seems and I'm starting to get worried.
I believe it was Wednesday around 7pm when I feed her one adult male dubia. She usually eats one every other day or every two days. She usually poops the next day after eating.
This time when I feed her things were different. I dusted the roach in calcium, plopped him down and she ate him but soon after I noticed that a white, hair like thread was sticking out of her mouth! I gently tugged on it to see if she had swallowed it or if it was just in her mouth, obviously she had swallowed it because it wasn't coming up. I frantically ran to get a pair of scissors to cut of the excess and as I tried to she slurped it up like spaghetti! I was so nervous but she seems to act just find so I waited to see if it would come out when she pooped. Well the next day I was sitting in the living room and saw her use the bathroom. I noticed she was there for WHILE so I went o look and all the had passed was a urate and was pushing really hard to pass something else out but all that came out was a tiny little piece of poop. She tried again; same thing. She tried once more and nothing came out so she went into her hide. I was worried and later on she pooped what seemed to be a rolled up roach wing it was so weird.
Does anyone have an advice as what I should do? Because she hasn't had a normal poop in days. I've been scared to feed her because I don't want to make it worse.
Her Specs:
- 2 year old. Looks and acts perfectly health except for this.
- 20 gallon long tank.
- Paper Towel substrate.
- Humid hide, Cool hide and a Middle hide that can go either way.
- Calcium dish.
- Dusting every feeding wit Rephasy.
- Hot Side around 93-94*F
- Air Temps were in the 80's but since then I haven't had any heat in my apt. so it's dropped to around 72ish and possible dropping into the 60's at night.
Now for my shedding question. The AFT female Aurora that I acquired on September 26 has been shedding every two weeks like clock work!
Is this normal? She wasn't in the best conditions and has gained a lot of weight but is it excessive shedding or is it normal? Marley which was extremely skinny has gained a lot of weight but has only shed twice and they're in identical enclosures. While I don't have a thermometer on their enclosures I have "borrowed" Lana thermometer since she was a thermostat and checked their enclosures and they're warm temps are around 92-94, paper towel or kraft paper substrate, calcium with half log on the cool side and a humid hide with coconut fiber on the warm side. I also spray the tank daily with warm water to bring up humidity on one side of the enclosure.
