I was wondering if anyone has pics that I can see that show the difference between a SHTCT and a tangerine. I'm trying to figure out the differences.

tangerine is just a leopard gecko with orange coloration. it is not a very specific term and can really be any gecko with a whole lot of orange on it.

a SHTCT would be a tangerine that also has VERY minimal or no spots on its back, and also has a carrot tail.

breaking it down: the SH in SHTCT stands for super hypo, meaning super hypomelanistic. hypomelanistic means that it lacks dark color (it lacks the black spots on the back of the leopard gecko in this case). and then the T stands for tangerine, meaning the leopard gecko has orange coloration on its body. and the CT stands for carrot tail, meaning that a considerable amount of its tail is orange.

you can also have SHTCTB, and the B stands for baldy. this means that in addition to the super hypo tangerine carrot tail, that it also doesnt have spots on its head either.

a "lighter" tangerine is just a lighter tangerine... unless it also has no spots on its back, and most of its tail is orange, then it would be a SHTCT.

did that make sense? sorry i sort of just rambled.

SHTCT = super hypo tangerine carrot tail

Super hypo means that there is NO spotting at all on the body (but there can be on the head and tail) and tangerine meaning orange pretty much. carrot tail, is generally 15% or more orange on the tail.

if theres a B at the end of SHTCT (SHTCTB) it would be that all the traits of a SHTCT would be there but there would be NO spots on its head.

EDIT: just realized that George pretty much explain it all lol
