so... these things turn into beetles right? exactly how big are these beetles?

at the store where i work we had some supers escape by chewing through their container. i don't mind bugs all that much, but i want to know what to expect if these things happen to survive in the store (and just in case one gets out in my house).

the beetles should be less horrifying than the worms at least... those things remind me of the graboids from those tremors movies.

if supers can eat through their containers, how do you contain them?? and how big are they, anyway? i've never seen a superworm..

i dunno how big the beetles are, but the pupae stage are about the size of a penny... maybe a bit bigger... so the beetles should be somewhere close in size... i would tell you but i only have 3 pupaes and no beetles at the moment lol....

superworms cant eat threw containers... *ie pastic or glass* im assumeing they must of been left in something cardboard or of the like... they are only about 2 inches or so... depending on age... do a quick yahoo or google image search and you will find em...

Superworms CAN eat through thin plastic... I've seen it happen.

The beetles are about the size of the diameter of a quarter. They're also pretty good escape artists... they don't climb smooth plastic... but if there is anything they can climb / grab onto, they can get loose. For example I was keeping them in small sterlite drawers... when I added some toilet paper tubes for them to hide in, they could climb them and grab the drawer above, and escape. Fortunatley I don't think I've had any get much further than the floor under the area they were kept, and easily recaptured them.

The larva can be a couple inches long, and about a 1/4 inch in diameter.

they ate through the thin plastic lid, chewed right where an air hole was and made a perfect super worm sized hole... only 2 worms were left in the container so quite a few got away.

the beetles don't sound too bad... but i'm still hoping the outside birds loose in the store will eat them before they pupate.

Nah, they aren't too bad. They're actually kinda cute. Especially considering those icky things they morphed from. (Superworms give me the creeps)

Superworms are really creepy. I'm definitely not a fan. lol. I have to use feeding tongs for them. Even if I'm picking them up and dropping them in a mealie dish.

I've also seen them chew through the holes in their containers. :3
