To most of the oldtimers here this is common knowledge but just wanted to share with some of the younger readers. Years ago at a large importer I saw many examples of boa constrictor babies that had bizarre patterns, reduced saddles and tail striping. Gravid females would be collected from the wild and held until they dropped babies - of course this could be very stressful on both mother and fetus. Often, the more bizarre the pattern the more obviously premature the animal had been born. These types of aberrancies are not genetic and not passed on to the offspring. Here's a gecko that hatched a little on the small side with lots of unabsorbed matter (thank God she's eating like a pig and growing fast). She is not from a stripe/jungle line. Not all aberrancies are due to stress - our tang line consistently tends to throw a good percentage of aberrant babies but not to this extent, not this "jungle" looking. Just thought I'd share an observation, any input is always appreciated.
