? about Heat Tape

I am thinking of moving my geckos from their glass tanks to plastic tubs and putting them on a metal storage shelving unit. Can I use heat tape on the metal shelving unit or does it need a flat surface like wood?

metal is fine but the only thing u need is to ground your metal rack with a grounded thermostat.metal and electricity isnt a good mix unless its grounded
