Abrasions due to shed?

A rescue of ours, named gramps because of his deformity of the lips.

He has had a few sheds here, but each time, the skin on his back sheds poorly, leaving a sore. I'm trying a mild oil on his back today, as he is in shed. Here is an image, anyone else get these? (BTW, keeping him humid and warm)

I'm not pulling the shed off, he just is having trouble in that one area..
Thank you for your support and concern, I'll try to keep this updated and hopefully he'll be 100% in no time.

Also, any suggestions for treatment of the wound?

Are you sure that's not some type of burn injury? It sure looks like it may be, IMO. In the event that it is, you could also try Neosporin (sp?). I hope he gets better soon! My fingers are crossed!

I don't think it is a burn, we have an uth under him, but he doesn't sleep on his back..... no above light, but thanks, and perhaps a little neosporin would help!

He's shedding about every third week or so, but he has been putting on a lot of weight. The previous owners neglected him, so he was a bit scrawny.

It is from before. He just had a shed and his scrape looks better, it's white and shiny, like a scar. He is acting really chipper tonight too. Thanks to all of you, and I'll keep you all updated if he gets better or worse.

Well if it's at that point then it will heal. I was asking because I had to actually stop one from ripping off a scab when it shed once, but it seems you are past that point.
