Acquired Leopard Gecko in bad condition

I acquired a leopard gecko from an acquaintance of a friend of mine. From the basic background info I got, the poor thing has not been taken care of for quite some time. He/she (no clue what the sex is) is very skinny, has been shedding for about a month, wasn't in any type of temperature controlled tank and may be impacted. I have had him since Saturday and have been searching through pages and forums ever since. We've spent over $100 so far just trying to get the essential items for him and seem to be making some progression but I still have concerns.

*As I mentioned he apparently has been shedding for quite sometime. When we took him over, there was tight skin around all of his toes, some on his tail and more concerning quite a bit around one of the eyes. We've created a warm humid box and started regulating the humidity in the tank. We've also been doing 30 minute humid "soaks" twice daily. Now, the skin around it's toes has improved drastically however the parts around it's eyes have not. The other thing is he is going through another shed. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or bad thing but I'm concerned about the lack of progress with his eye.

*He hasn't gone to the bathroom much. I've only noticed maybe 2 poos total since we've got him and there doesn't seem to be anymore than that in the tank. Due to this, we think he may be impacted and we did do a warm water soak to hopefully assist him.

*The first day he ate a bit and the same the next however now he will only eat about 1/2 a wax worm (we were told to feed him these to help him gain weight). The other issue is that we have to hold the food up to his mouth with tweezers b/c he doesn't appear to be able to see the items.

I'm doing my best to try and rehab this little guy b/c without it he surely would have passed. This however is my 1st lizard of any kind so I'm constantly second guessing myself.

Facts on the cage - His warm side is ranging between 85-90. The humidity is about 40-50%. Warm side has a UTH and a heat lamp as the temps weren't staying stable with just the UTH. That side also has a moist hide and a dry hide. The cool side shows about 72-76 and has a dry hide.

Any assistance/guidance is appreciated.

it sounds like you are going on the right track for the little guy :)

just a word of warning, you should try to avoid waxworms, especially when they are that skinny. He needs as much nutrients as he can, and waxworms have no nutritional value for your gecko. Try dusted mealworms or crickets. they need to be gut loaded, and dusted. this way he will steadily gain "healthy" weight and it wont just be packing him with fat. Think of waxworms as french fries for geckos :)

Im going to give you a link to a guide i wrote for feeding, breeding, and supplementation of mealworms, because it goes much more in depth then i can right now----http://geckoforums.net/f128-feeding-feeders/97779.htm

i really hope that your gecko gets better, and im sorry that you had to join this community under this situation, but welcome to gecko land :D

So we will stick more to the meal worms instead of the wax worms.

I've had good success with getting most of his shed off, however his eyes are still concerning. One looks very opaque almost to were you can see the eye itself and the other is very cloudy. He does seem to be able to see a little bit now however I know it's not much. Any suggestions on how to assist with the remaining bits of shed in his eyes?
