Acrylic and UTH's

I was looking on glasscages.com and noticed that they have a 29 Long acrylic terrarium that is only 6" tall, which is something I've really been looking for. I would have preferred to have had it as a glass terrarium, but they don't offer to ship the glass ones. Anyway, if I was to purchase this, would I be able to use a UTH on it? I know the UTH's say to NOT use on acrylic, plastic, or anything other than glass, with the exception of the mini UTH. Has anyone had experience with this being a problem? I don't know if it only says that assuming that you wouldn't be using a thermostat or rheostat to keep the temps lower, since the normal temp of a UTH gets up past 100 degrees.

Anyone have any thoughts on this idea?

Thanks! What did you have to keep the temps at? I'm not sure what temperature tortoises are kept at, and if it's lower than leos then I'd like to see if anyone who has used acrylic for housing their leos has had a problem with using a UTH. Thanks for replying :) !

you could always go to lowes' glass cutting area and have them cut a piece of glass to replace the acrylic bottom piece if it's removable just for some more peace of mind.

Hmmm...didn't think of that...that's a good idea! I'll keep that in mind, thanks!

Ok, so that is the same as leos..thanks! I emailed the people on the site to ask if they do ship the glass ones though, because they are cheaper than acrylic. So if I can't get a glass one shipped to me I now know that I can get an acrylic one.

Thanks so much!

Very cute tortoise by the way! I love them!

Hi...just curious if you had any issues with the UTH and your acrylic tank. I have a 20L that I'd like to setup that's acrylic and just want to make sure it will be ok.

Are you asking me? Or GeeEssFore? I currently don't have one, I just ordered them today and hopefully will get them in a week.
