just curious to see if using actualy green moss as a substrate for the humid hide for a leopard gecko would be appropriate... i moved to oregon, and moss seems to grow everywhere... whether it's a concrete divider that happens to be in the woods... rocks.. or trees,... there seems to be moss covering everything and figured it would be a safe choice..

any suggestions? ideas?

Personally I wouldn't use anything brought in from outside unless it could be completely sterilized (i.e. brought to 200 degrees for 10 minutes or so). It could contain bugs, parasites, or have been sprayed with an insecticide that may hurt your leo. Sphagnum moss, coconut fiber or vermiculite only cost a few dollars (like $2-8 depending where and how much you get) that are safe. Paper towels may be the cheapest and safest option although IMO they don't hold moisture as well as the others or allow for digging.
