Well I am so pleased with my first leo that I can not hardly wait to add another or two. My problem being is that I have a male, so that rules out adding anymore males...The next problem is the ones that the stores have now are so small I do not think I could make an accurate sex judgement...should I wait until they get bigger or is there some way to tell the sex of juveniles?

The only way to tell for sure is to let them mature some more. They could be temp. sexed but that's not always 100% accurate. You could always buy from a breeder who has some that are visually sexed. There are a lot of great breeders on this site. Chances are the people at the pet store will not know. Good luck!:main_thumbsup:

The easiest way to avoid any problems is to have a seperate tank for each leo ;)

They prefer to be alone anyway as they are solitary animals

Even females are known to fight at times, expecially when a male is present. And also besides that you shouldnt even be housing a male and female together unless you have space for all the hatchlings they could have, and thats a big comittment.

I have 2 females together that get along well, I guess I am lucky. They did come from the same breeder, and were hatched within a day of each other, I don't know but this may be why they tolerate each other.

I was actually considering breeding just to give it a try, but am going to do much more research before I attempt that. I have a few 10 gallon tanks that are empty and extra heat bulbs, undertank heaters...etc..so I will do some more research and see what is best to do.

For now I would suggest housing them seperately; especially since you have the extra supplies already

You'll want to keep them separate anyways for at least 90 days for quarantine. And if there is that much difference in size I wouldn't risk putting the male with smaller leos, he may find them to be a tasty snack.

90 days or even longer since they only have much smaller ones.
