Well, the lady dropped off the gecko she didn't want anymore because it "sleeps too much"....I haven't seen it yet but Matt said it has a re-gen tail (not an issue) but it has eye problems, more than likely from stuck shed. He said one eye looks like it has developed a catarac (sp) and the other has been irritated from him rubbing off stuck shed. My question is, can I use salene eye drops (my mom gets them from the hospital where she works), to rinse out his eyes? Also, is there anything anyone has used to help with the irritation?

Other than the eye issues, Matt says he seems healthy.

Any help and advice would be appreciated. I would like to start work on his eyes as soon as I get over to matt's later tonight. Thanks!

The "Cataract" that you see is probably a piece of shed. I would NOT advise you even attempt to get it out on your own. I HIGHLY advise you to take it to a vet asap.

now that I see him, it actually looks like he has a small bacterial infection in both eyes from scratching them on something. He also has a small pustual under his eye (more than likely from something stuck like a splinter) in the skin. He's going to the vet next week to get his eyes looked at and a fecal done. He's actually very fat and he's got to be the sweetest gecko I've ever seen.

I have had that kind of thing come my way in the past. I sent a picture to my vet. He suggested bringing it in ASAP. I booked an appointment for a week later. In that time I kept the gecko in a really damp enclosure with multiple pieces of cork oak. So he could rub himself if he needed to. In that time frame he shed 2 x and by the time the appointment came... you wouldn't have even known how bad he looked the previous week. So.. Try keeping him like that. And.. Take some pictures so we can see what your talking about. :)

Good luck.

Thanks David! The only thing is, this guy is 3 to 5 years old so he won't shed too often. I am also worried about the pimple thing under his eye.

The gecko I was talking about was about 2 or 3. When something is wrong with them they can shed a lot more than normal. And.. Hmm.. Pimply thing.. Vet sounds like a good idea. Try keeping him nice and humid.. It may help out.
