I was just watching some stuff on the history channel about computer recycling . Think about this: Imagine where we will be by 2030! We have only had computers that can do real processing for 40 years are we are already SO advanced. Its amazing how quick things caught on. People are already seeing HUGE life expectancy increase and we are learning more about the human body everyday. Imagine what is will be like 40 years from now. Will we have people doing any manual labor, or will it all be digital? Where will we be living? Mars? How long will people live? 125 years? 150 years? 200 years!? The only things I can see with these types of advances are personal and religious beliefs.

....Discuss (lol, this could be a very interesting subject. Try to keep it clean as far as personal beliefs go, dont want anyone to get offended.)

At the same time the more advanced technology becomes the more reliant we become on it. It would be wonderful to see the things you mentioned happen. I would be so happy to see people living longer and healthier lives, but if this goes along with relying heavily on technology then I'm not sure anyone can expect such results. The human population will eventually grow to the point where there is not enough jobs, space, or resources for this planet. Yes, we could very well move to another planet if technology continues to make giant leaps, but until then we would have severe problems here. If technology becomes so advanced that it takes away the need for labor, then goodbye to a lot of jobs.

On the cause of human life expectancy... I recently read a study that showed that within decades more and more bacteria could mutate enough to become completely deadly to humans. We, as an entire species, rely too much on things like cleaners and chemicals to destroy bacteria, and they in turn do what they've been doing for centuries. Adapt and become immune.

Humans on the other hand will eventually reach a point where they cease adapting. This is caused when the environment becomes stable and controlled (much like our present society). Even with technology we are becoming too comfortable. True, the potential for technology is limitless, but at what expense?

I'm really not trying to be pessimistic about the future or more advanced technology, I'm just trying to be honest. With such advances in technology the world could become a very different place than it is now, for better or for worse.

Technology and health advances really have come a long way. We have learned a lot in the last 25 years in those areas. At the other end of the spectrum, even though we know more about our health, here in the U.S., we are I think the most obese country.

I work in a school where half of our children are unhealthy to the point where they unfortunately can't even keep up in gym class. Almost every student has an Xbox, PS2 or computers and love to sit hours on end playing video games or listening to their ipods. I remember when I was 10, we would go outside and play tag or hide and seek.:main_thumbsup: My kids don't even play these traditional games. Remember catch one-catch all? fun times.
With all these advances in medicine that can help overweight children, the easiest form of medicine is exercise and proper nutrition.

In terms of technology, I love it but to a point. Small example, there is a car (can't think of the name right now) that can park itself. C'mon, do we really need a car that can do this? It's not a necessity. Hands free bluetooth in your car-necessity, video camera in the rear while parking, unless you have a mack truck-luxury and unnecessary.

Like Matt said, this isn't a rant or anything. I'm merely stating things that I've noticed. I'm all for innovative improvements to our lifestyles as long as they're important.:D
