Can anyone tell me what the aprox. weight compared to age is normal. Such as 3 month ~weight, 6 month, ect... and what is concidered juv., subadult, and adult. Thanks
i couldn't tell you, but i do know there is no exact scale because if one is sick or not being taken care of properly then you will have a big difference. However i assume if you have one since time of hatching and you take care of it most geckos should grow at about the same rate, a breeder can tell you a lot better than i can though.
As far as weight goes, I'm new to all this. I think it varies with the gecko. Does anyone have an average or range for the different catagories (hatchling/juvie/adult)? Could be helpful for those buying a gecko w/o a known hatchdate.
There's not exactly a rule when guessing age by weight and vice versa. Unless the gecko has been power fed or is a fast grower, most hatchlings weigh around 6-10g at a month old. They continue to gain around 5-10g per month until about the age of 6 months, then they gain body fat throughout the rest of their life time. I would say a normal adult female usually weighs around 55-65g but of course there are smaller and larger geckos who make this average kinda iffy. If you have a specific question regarding weight or age, it would probably be easier to answer. Hope this helps...
