is it possible to tell the age of a gecko by how long they are? I'm sure geckos, like dogs or cats, can grow at different rates, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask
Judging age by size may only work up until a certain age/the point they stop growing then after that I think it could be hard to tell because unlike dogs I don't think their are too many other physical indicators to judge age like by their teeth.
this dude's still young, just now getting rid of his stripes for spots. Petco has no idea of his age, and I'm the dork who likes to celebrate my pet's birthdays figured it wouldn't hurt to ask! I can measure him and post a pic if you think it might help?
Pix would def. help some of the more experienced breeders on the forum give you a ball park idea. IDK how these places can't know how old the animals they get in are when they have invoices and all that should be stated on the invoce from wherever the leo was obtained when it's hatch date was. I know in Pa. all that has to be documented.
Pics would definaltly help. You can get a good guess of the age by size/length if they've been cared for well. After a certain point there muscle mass starts filling in on them which will help more. LOL i celerbrate mine too! Tho you could always celebrate the day he became part of your family;D
true, but this way, he'd have TWO days! a "gotcha" day and a birthday
and considering i didn't even get a copy of the "adoption agreement" i filled out, i'm highly doubtful they'd have info on hatch dates, or be able to find it for me. I'll get a picture of him tomorrow... it's easier to get a pic if hubby takes it.
