Our male is starting to seem to get aggressive, we lift his hide and his tail goes "up" and swishes back and fourth, we leave him alone after and he calms down but this is starting to happen every time we lift his hide. also last night he was out and about in his cage and just started to swishs his tail back and fourth. just trying to figure out what is going on with my leo.

Thanks.

no cats no other male we do have a female that is in another tank about 5 feet away. she is about 7 months old.(they cannot see each other, but could smell?). we always wash our hands before touching the leos and after each one.(so as not to xfer scents)

It's normal defensive behavior. If none of the things that Marcia mentioned apply, then he just does not want to be bothered. A hide is where they should feel safe. It should not be lifted unless necessary. You are defeating the purpose of the hide. Just leave him alone and he will eventually come out
and continue normal activities.
