Ok, I have introduced my adult SHTCTB Leos twice now....both times the male has attempted to bite the female multiple times....she is acting totally disinterested in his advances. Would it be safe to leave them together? I don't want him to harm her seriously, so do you think he is just an "extra-passionate" Gecko? lol

do you mean bite her as in attack her or biter her as in mate with her? if she is disinterested thats a good thing as she wont put up a fight, its when she attacks the male that its a bad thing...

I'm not really sure...it seems as if he wants to mate because he'll rattle his tail vigorously and approach her slowly, then bite her lol.

I'm probably being over-worrisome, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I figured that what was going on lol.....its actually quite comical to watch.

How long should I leave them together, do you think? A few days and then remove the male or should overnight do the job? Of course, I assume multiple introductions may be needed to persuade the female to give in lol.

Also...if they do successfully mate, how long from now should I be looking for eggs? I want to make sure I have an incubator set up prior to that.

I don't know about most of you, but I like to witness copulation before I seperate them. I don't leave them together unattended and I KNOW the deed has been done if I see it happen. It also helps in estimating when she'll lay so you don't have to check lay boxes as much.

And the males get made if she wont give it up i have been trying for the pasted 2-3 days know. Anyone know what i could do and last night i tryed again and he stright went after her and bite very hard i couldnt get them apart and had to make him release her? And im not understanding this they have been fine the start of the season?

i know its kind of a late reply but my female laid some infertile eggs two weeks ago. they got moldy.

when i put my male back in with my female he went right for her just after his first look around the tank. he rattled his tale and bit her on the tail. then she bite him on the face. this happened three times within a few minutes. after that i removed him. was that ok to take him out? she bit him as if she was pissed off. it was like a bite and a head shake while still holding on.

Traffic 611, you were right to separate them. If the female attacks the male then she is not interested and they could wind up hurting each other. This goes for CoolGecko too, keep the male and female separate for a week or two then reintroduce them. I tried night after night to get two of my geckos to mate. I then decided to give them some time off, after about a week or two I tried again and they successfully copulated. It may or may not work for you guys, but it did for me.
