My BS I got from HISS over a year ago has 2 small "air pockets" ....ie like "bubbles" behind both front legs. They are small. Maybe 1/2" in dia.

Any thoughts on what this might be? She is Fat and Very heathy. Maybe to Fat?

I will tell you what I was told by a vet. She said it is caused by excessive protein and overuse of supplemments. So either the leo's are recieving too much protein and/or too much vitamin supplement. Feeding too many insects high in protein or overfeeding.
Normally all nutrients are stored in the tail. When the tail can't handle anymore it forms these deposits. Vitamins A, D, E and K are fat soluble. Not a good thing in excess.
What's recommended is to feed less or to feed insects with lower fat and protein. Give them enough room for exercise and chase prey.
Feed variety of insects so that you can reduce the use of vitamin supplements using them sparingly.

These look like pockets of Air where maybe the skin was separated Or maybe a liquid of some kind? They are not Hard and seem to move as she does. Again..... they seem to be either air or maybe nothing but the skin torn away from body.

Do I need to post pics?

One of my tang females has these said air pockets. Not huge in anyways, but her tail is nice and fat. I wouldn't worry too much I would rather this then have her be seriously melnutritioned (sp)

As you can see her tail is extremely! fat as I think this is a trait of the R2 line from Hess. Am I right to assume this is liquid and not a solid, as it changes shape as she moves?

Her tail is not huge, it's a good size. None of my geckos ever had them so I did not question the vet any further. I asked because I noticed this question quite often in forums. What I wrote in the other comment was all that she said. There are two people in the old threads which have had them biopsied and they said it was protein.

Protein is a liquid in this case, one of my bigger females has these, and she is fine.

Yes her tail is Very large compared to a normal LG. Like I said..... I think it's a trait from the R2 line? It's the pic that does not show if off as well ;)

Pictures can be deceiving. Does she eat anything besides crickets? So as mentioned by fl_orchislave excessive supplementation can also be the problem. That was one of the factors the vet mentioned as I stated before, so if she noticed reduction in size it might be something to consider

I cut back on dusting when my geckos begin to get these. It's my opinion they're caused by excessive supplementation. Whether they show under a microscope as protein or calcium, they go away within a few weeks by cutting back on the supplement. I think it was last year, someone here came up with the name "goobs" for these gecko boobs.

She only eats crickets. I have started to reduce the number each week. I had been feeding every other day and now will 3 times a week cutting back her intake. I will post results in weeks to come if they go away. ( meaning it was caused by over feeding )
