hi im pretty new to all this leopard gecko breeding. I currently have 1 egg in incubation and my female is gravid again:D Anyway i have heard that crossing the different strains of albinos is sort of frowned upon. I was just wondering why? Thanks

I am kinda new to this but from what I have read, the different strains of albino are not compatible. You will just end up with normals with double hets. This creates a bit of a headache to resort out genetically. A lot of work has gone into breeding "in" and refining the recessive albino trait, it would kinda be like going backwards.

The three different albino strains(Tremper,Rainwater, and Bell) are incompatible genetically. All are simple recessive, but do not create Albinos when bred together, they produce normals Het for both Albino strains you bred together. If you bred those together it would be impossible to tell which animals were which strain of albino.

Hello i have woundered this myself and hope you dont mind but have something to add to the question Say:
you have 1 tremper and 1 bell you breed them togather and produce males from the first clutch and females from the second clutch
now you have normals het for both tremper and bell.
what would happen or what would you get if you breed the double albino hets togather not that i would i just want to know why this is such and no no and what one would get if they did this i understand the point of refine bloodline and all just want to know if this has been done if so what were the results of the pairing and were there any other downsides other than albino bloodline crossing and confusion?
