Albino question

Generally speaking, the three albino strains all have subtle unique characteristics that differentiate them. The main body coloration and banding can consistently be the same in all three strains, but the coloration of the eyes is a big indicator. Each strain has differently colored eyes.

Trempers have silver-gray eyes, often with red veining present. Rainwaters tend to have darkish gray eyes. Bells, probably the easiest to identify and differentiate when it comes to eye color, have unique pinkish eyes.

A body picture and a clear eyeshot would help with getting a general idea. But like Sunrise Reptile said, the only way to know for sure is by breeding.

Oh ok so I have a tremper patternless albino. And somebody is selling me a sunglow. So by looking at the sunglows eyes I can tell what type of albino it is?
And how will I find out by breeding them? Thanks!!

Well if you breed a Tremper strain albino to another Tremper strain albino then you will get Tremper strain albino offspring. If, however, one of the breeders is mistaken for a Tremper and is actually Rainwater or Bell, then you will have normal off spring double het for both strains. I think that makes sense... migraines suck ><

Does the seller know exactly what strain the Sunglow is? Like I said, the eyes are a big clue and could certainly give you a strong idea of what strain of albino the gecko is.

The three strains of albino are not genetically compatible with one another. If you bred, for example, a Tremper to a Bell you will never obtain a gecko that is homozygous for both traits. Instead, like GeckoCrossing mentioned already, you will get Normal looking geckos that are heterozygous for Tremper and Bell. But if the Sunglow was in fact a Tremper Sunglow, if bred to your TPA, you would get Tremper offspring.

Crossing the albino strains is a genetic nightmare, and is very frowned upon. I too feel a headache coming on just thinking about it. If you do plan on breeding the two and end up with Normal babies, I would advise you not to sell them, but instead keep them as pets, as they are most likely double het for different albino strains.

Unfortunately the seller doesn't know. But I understand now. I have one more question, I was also looking to buy a raptor from another seller but I told him that i Have a tremper albino and he said that the raptors carry the tremper gene. Is this true?

Yes,
RAPTOR = Red eye Albino Patternless Tremper ORange

In order to produce RAPTORs you have to have the Tremper albino strain and the Eclipse gene.

RADAR's are the RAPTOR version of the bell strain.
