Always Sleeping?

So I've only had Fred since Friday, and all he seems to do is sleep? lol He'll wake up to go to the washroom, eat, or drink. But right back into his hot hide. Now I'm sure he comes out at night when I'm in bed. But I really wanna see the little guy walking around lol Is this normal?

Also, while their sleeping during the day, is it fine to wake them and take them out? I still feel iffy about holding him tho. Only because the guy we got him from said to wait 2 days and then someone on here said wait a week to handle him.

Any advice?!

I've only had my leo for about 7 months now...i'm no expert but i gave mine some space for the first week...don't want to stress them out in a new environment...

but they are nocturnal so they will be lively at night...

i do pick mine up during the day sometimes and let him crawl around for a bit but as soon as he's back in his tank he's off to sleep again...

mine is healthy and happy and acts normal as far as i'm concerned...

i think if u give him a little space at first and then get him out occasionally he'll start loving ya and he might come out sometimes or he might not...depends on his personality...

good luck though...and if your profile pic is of it...it's a cutie...

To everyone else in my house, that's all my leos do too. But wait til around 12 am - 5 am and they're both VERY active. They ARE nocturnal after all... And it just happens to be that I sort of am too, so I see them when they're up.

Yeah I knew they were nocturnal, and I use to be. But having a 5 month old makes this Mama head to bed before 11pm LOL Although I get up to feed my little guy (baby lol) around 3-4am and I still don't see him come out :( Although he's probably spooked when I walk by his tank before I see him if he does come out.

Eventually I hope he comes out more and like others have posted comes to the sound of my voice...that'd be fun! :D

lol that's understandable. I don't know then, just give him time to get used to his new home. I know my two used to hide alot. Now they'll peak out to see what's going on if I go near their tanks or go in them for whatever reason (change water or the bathroom paper towels usually). In time I'm sure he'll be much more friendly.
