Amount of eating.

My geckos have slowed down their eating habits. It went from 10-15 mealworms a time to 5-6. Was it just because they were going through growth spirts. They haven't lost any weight and their tails look to be getting fatter... They havnt gaind much weight either. Went from 3-4 grams a week to about 1. Her sister is doing the same thing only she is about 10 grams lighter (not becuse of lack of eating, shes always been the small one). I noticed they slowed down eating after i started leaving the calcium dish in their tank, Maybe they like it more then wormies? Did I just see my gecko go thru becoming a teen and now she's a lazy college kid who doesnt wanna do anything?

10 - 15 mealies at a time, wow. Is that 10 to 15 per gecko? How often are they fed? Are they mini-mealies or regular size (1/4-in. diameter / 1-in. long)?
How old are the geckos?

I thought our guy was a heavy eater getting down 6 or 7 regular mealies each day.

That's cool you're keeping track of their weekly weight gain, I've always wondered what good growth looked like in terms of weight gain over say the first 6 months.

Changes in temps could contribute to eating habit changes or they could be maturing and their metabolism could be slowing down. I've found these guys take care of themselves and eat what they need when they need it. Just keep offering and they'll sort out how much they want.

it could be changes in temp. or they are just getting older, how old are they?

my big girl ate 17 one day at peak when she was about 20 grams, i swear the next day you could see the tail size double. and these are the "small" tub from the store about 1inch long. Should be about 4-5 months.

ps. my lil bb and albino are eating great. both about 6 grams when i bought them and now they are about 10.
