I know you guys are probably sick and tired of getting heating threads, and i would have commented on the the one below, but they are having a different issue.

My temps are very different, and i am alarmed. on the hot side most of the time is stays anywhere from 70-80 i am very worried. i have a UTH, what else can i do to warm it up?

Thank you all!

I have a 10 gallon tank, and yes the UTH is the correct size. I will diefinatly try the ceramic or red bulbs, thank you so much!

Because my tank is in my cold basement, I use UTH on the bottom, then I use a light fixute w/ a reflector which seems to heat it up just enough. (I have the thermometer on the bottom, and light fixture has helped to raise the temp about 3 or 4 degrees.) Also- what kind of substrate are you using? That could affect the heat from your UTH.

Can you just move the tank to a warmer part of the house until summer gets here??

Just a thought...

Not really. But my temps are perfect on warm/cool sides, so no need to move my tank.

if you have an anolog thermometer it could say the temps wrong. Digital are probaly the most accurate >.> Also if you want to heat up your tank to 88 degrees u could get a 25 watt infrared red bulb :D. Its not to hot and keeps the temp just rite if your having trouble with keeping the temps

First, specifics about your thermometer and it's location are important to know.

When I first started, I had difficulty getting my temperature up warm enough; and it turned out to be because my tank was on a metal frame stand with an open bottom. When I put a board on the metal frame, and then set the tank on top of that, the tank heated up quite nicely.

My tank was also in a drafty location, which may have contributed to my temp problems. The board solved it though.

First try some "silver foil tape" you can get it at any building supply place (Menards, Lowes, Home Depot etc etc) its about 6-10.00 dollars a roll very sticky and made with foil (aluminum). That might work if not try a 50 watt infrared bulb (25 may not be enough) Make sure to put the bulb above the warm hide side.

My house runs a little on the cold side and i use 25 watt infrared to compensate. 90 on the hot side 72 on the cool side (may hit 70).

What exactly do you do with the silver foil tape? Place it on the bottom (outside)?

yes you can attatch the foil to cover the uth underneath, sometimes the foil will absorb the heat and make it warmer. Also is it a piece of flex watt you wired or is it pre wired like exo-terra? Do you have any dimmers or thermostat on it?

The temp i had was taken from the bottom of the tank on the warmside, beside the hide, with a digital thermometer by exo-terra. The stand it is in is a wood stand with a closed bottom.
