Ok so after reading here I changed my heating from basking lamps to an UTH. the Digital Thermometer on the hot side is reading 99 degrees. Is that ok? Too hot? If it is too hot how do I fix it? It is plugged right into the outlet. Should I get a dimmer thing and plug it into there or a thermostat?

good move changing from basking lights to uth. i alway recommend a thermostat to avoid hot/cold variations. my temps are set at 95 on the hot side of my tubs.

Ok I have to order a thermostat because I dont like the ones that they carry here. What can I do in the meantime so it is not too hot? Would putting a few more layers of papertowels work?

ok so I put about 10 more layers of papertowels and an extra repticarpet that I had laying around (under the papertowels) hopefully that will bring it down. When I went in there again it was 103 in the hot end. Its at 83 in the other half of the tank.

Ok I have to order a thermostat because I dont like the ones that they carry here.

I ordered mine from Amazon because it was over $30 cheaper than on a pet store website. So just a suggestion, try amazon :) They've got some pretty good prices. Hopefully you didn't order yet haha I have the Zilla Temperature Controller in case you were wondering which thermostat to get. It works great :) You just have to fiddle around with it to get it to the right temp. Even if it's set to 90, the thermometer may not say 90. Hope I helped :)
