Ok so random question, is the flash from cameras dangerous with leopard geckos, is there any sort of blinding risk? Is it more dangerous to use flash with babys or adults?

And are the albino morphs more suseptable then the darker eyed morphs?

Random question I know but I am sure alot of people wonder about this?

What are your thoughts? Expiriences?

I turn off the flash when taking any pictures of any of my reptiles. I'm sure it can be "scary" to an animal when they have no idea what's actually going on. My bell leo, is sensitive to all light let alone a flash. Sometimes the flashes from camera's hurt my eyes and I get weird blotches everywhere. I'm sure it's the same for your leo's/animals. Also when I went to a "nocturnal" zoo thing. I don't remember what they actually called it, but it was all nocturnal animals they said "no camera flashes" allowed. Even my boyfriend who was wearing a bright yellow hat, messed up some of the animals and spooked them. - which was not intentional. Needless to say Leo's are nocturnal, and probably is best to not use a flash on em. :)

With taking pictures (this was explained to me), since our geckos are nocturnal, it's best to bring them into a room that already has a light on so that their eyes can adjust better than going from complete darkness to this HUGE flashing light.

My DSLR camera has an external flash that I can point up towards the ceiling, so while the light still flashes, it's not flashing AT their face in their eyes.

You can always tape a piece of paper over your flash which should bounce and diffuse the light better and make it easier on your geckos' eyes.:D

in the wild they get subjected to lightning flashes,

IMO flash isnt a problem (I used it on my cresties that I just brought home) and there wasnt even a reaction to it.

however I did turn the flash down a tad. (1/4 power)

the hey is to plan your shots, and try to take as few as possible so reserve judgement on when to shoot. wait for "that moment". though repeated flash doesnt seem to have any problems.

I've used flash over tanks full of jumpy fish with no problems,
