Is there any way at all (legally) to get antibiotics for mouth rot without going to a vet. I've tried 4 vets in my area only one takes geckos they aren't open on weekends and close before I even get home from school. There's no possible way for me to get him there. I've tried everything to self treat it it's not working...

What my vet usually prescribes for infections in my reptiles is Fortaz (ceftazidime). He has always instructed me to inject it using a syringe. I don't know of anywhere to get the antibiotic or the needles without a prescription. I also know nothing about how to calculate the proper dose so I think you may need to find a vet to get something appropriate to treat him. arav.org has a list of lots of vets. Sometimes if you call the ones that don't take reptiles they can refer you to one that does. Wish I had better advice! Good luck!

my vets have given me Baytril before.

you can buy it over the internet.
Melissa Kaplan's Herp Care Collection web site is good for general stuff as well as dosage information
Common Reptile Drugs and Dosages

it is however always best to seek a vet first as you need the EXACT weight to ratio of treatment or you could end up doing more harm then good. Any thing you attempt without the correct diagnosis and instructions from a vet is done at your own risk.
