Still just line breeding here folks... Don't get too excited... Sorry just not impressed easy...

I personally am more impressed by line breeding because of the years and work required to get desired results. Sure, it's not as flashy as buying two breeders that are double-triple-quadruple hets for very exciting combos, but it is incredibly respectable. In my very opinionated opinion. ;)

I just wait until stuff has grown into adulthood these days before I bother with interest. Lots of animals are the morphs of the future until the future comes. That said, good luck to these and any other burgeoning projects out there. It all has to come from some seminal point.

when there is an adult "black pearl" that keeps the dark coloration, and passes it along to offspring after a couple of generations, i will be ecstatic. i've had a lot of interest in my dark afghanicus, but who knows how it will turn out as an adult. if i can line breed that hypermelanism, and prove it out, i may release a few. but that's a couple of years away. maybe im being pessimistic about this but i have seen a few adult black pearls. some of them aren't even as dark as my normals...

its still interesting to see the development stage. Whether or not they can look like that as adults they are still cool looking to me. But that is my own personal opinion.

Have you seen the charcoal, though? It holds its color into adulthood.
I'm excited exactly because I do think this is a cross with that potential...even if it is still a few years out.

I personally am more excited by what a tangerine x charcoal can do, but I haven't seen any that aren't het tremper yet. So, I'll wait for that.

lillith is right. Charcoals hold a pretty good concentration of black into adulthood.

And combined with the Black Pearl, given a few years... well, we'll have to all wait and see, but I think the gecko community is one step closer to the all-black gecko that we've all been anticipating.

Check out this adult out.
No line breeding done as of yet, but clear dark coloration there.

It's far from Black... Granted, but the potential is there.
From what I've seen theres a huge amount of variation in these animals, and egg production strips these animals of dark pigment for a while, maybe thats why we see such difference.

Hey ho though, its great to see JMG publishing results. They worked fast thats for sure, now for the combos to clean up the base colour and I think we will be 1 step closer to the solid black gecko :main_thumbsup:
