A few weeks back I wrote a defamatory post regarding ReptileBasics and specifically Rich Goldzung. After reflection on the events I feel I need to retract that statement ten-fold.
I ordered a Rack from Richard without doing the proper research on what I needed and when it arrived it was a hatchling/juve rack when what I needed was an adult rack. I spoke with a friend who decided to build one for me but was taking a long time to complete it. I also had ordered a Helix as well. When the package arrived I called Richard and asked to return the package and keep the Helix. He was fine with the return but asked that we not open the package because it would ruin the safety of shipping the rack itself back. He advised that once he got the package back he would just send the Helix and refund the difference.
At that same time I was going through some issues of my own. I have been type 1 diabetic my entire life and had been experiencing vicious mood swings, weight loss, and lethargy. Both of my parents are type 2. So the problem was obvious but like many people we don't realize something until it slaps us in the face. The issue nearly cost me my marriage, my business, and my job with my company. It turned out my Pancreas was running at a very minimum level and I had to start insulin therapy. Since day 1 of the therapy my mood and life got back on track and I'm happy to say all has resolved itself; and I've never felt better.
At the peak of the this issue I decided that we should just cancel the entire order. Richard as always promptly replied and refunded my money in full. I explained the personal situation to him and he understood and left it that. I was touchy at the time and went back and fourth about the transaction, and even apologized to Richard for the entire transaction.
It was inappropriate for me to post that message regarding him and his company because indeed he was entirely professional and it was my fault. I wasn't exactly the best customer. I was like that ten year old kid at the ice cream shop asking for one flavor, then another, and then another, and finally saying I don't want anything; after the guy scooped three cones.
I want to take a moment to apologize to Richard and his company and hope he will take us back into his good graces, because he was courteous, professional, informative, and prompt from beginning to end.
Reptile Basics and Rich Goldzung are an excellent company to deal with and more companies should take a lesson from their and his business practices.
Sincerest apologies,
Mj
