Are fans necessary in homemade incubators...??

ok, i have a hovabator, non fan model that I use, and seems to be working well so far, but i am going to convert a mini-fridge to an incubator and I am curious if these are generally better with a fan or without...?

I have seen a few designs on the net and here, but I wasn't planning to use a fan. I think I could hotwire a CPU fan with the right power adapter...

any info would be appreciated..

I think it depends on teh size of the incubator when they are home made, I have 2 fish coolers that are about 12X12 and one 17X14 without fans but if you made like a 2'x3' you may need a fan.
