Hi peeps :)

After looking at lots of peoples setups i think i may have gone overboard with the decorating

My geckos are healthy and seem happy but im worried ive cluttered them up with too much and it isnt very....deserty.

Daisy my female will spend lots of sleepy time where u can see her on the picture, next to the moist hide under the leaves.

The other viv is for my male, he doesnt come out a lot and likes to sleep in the bottom right corner under the leaves or under his log.

Ive never seen them climb on the wood other than just to get over it.

I moved their calcium dishes closer to their hides as b4 they were near the water dishes and i was worried they wouldnt be able to find them.

I dont know if they drink from the water dishes but i know they can get to them as a few times Daisy has gone poopy in hers :laugh4:

Could anyone give me advice on if they are ok or i have too much stuff in?

Thanks in advance :main_thumbsup:

What kind of heat source are you using? UTH or basking light and at what temps?

Environmental heat can play a big role in how active they are as well as what type of feeders you use.

Geckos prefer active pray such as crickets and roaches. Not only are meal worms not very nutritional and are known to be hard to digest but they are boring prey for your geckos.

The leaves are fine but i personaly do not use them. The moment you put feeders in the tank the feeders will run straight for the leaves or go under the paper towel then neither you or your geckos will see them again.(you wont see them until it comes time to clean the tank as insects tend to find the first place to hide and just stay there)

What substrate you use is completely up to you but personally i use a mix of sand and peat moss as a substrate (i have also used a mix of sand and exo terra plantation soil), Never had any issues.

Although most geckos may not drink from the dish its always important to have it in there in case they do. You could also lightly mist the leaves in your enclosure every now and then as they may prefer to drink water droplets.

I prefer to keep my tanks simple, i put any furniture or hides to the back and sides of the tank leaving the middle and front clear to give the animals more space to move around freely as well as making it easier for them to hunt and grab their pray without obstacles getting in the way.

Its just about common sense, trial and error and keeping it simple.

Hope that helps.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Thanks for the feedback :)

I use heat mats inside the vivs. They are normally between 90-95ish and are on thermostats and monitored through the day so they dont get too hot.

I have been feeding them on mealworms as i hate crickets with a passion and they couldnt catch the last batch i bought. They have started to eat less though and dont seem as interested in them so i think theyre getting bored of them. Planning to get some dubia roaches in the next week or so.

I like paper towel as its cheap and easy to clean and i know its safe. I am considering getting tiles in the near future.

I take the leaves and stuff out when i feed them so i can make sure they eat the food and then put them in after we finished. They dont seem to get stressed by it and me taking the furniture out makes them perk up and come to the front like they know its feeding time or time to be picked up :)

Ive seen them lick the droplets from inside the moist hides but i think id be scared of too much humidity if i mist the leaves :(

Thanks again for the help, it is always appreciated :)
