Well last week I received a letter stating that the gas will be OFF in my building due to repairs. While I was a little annoyed that I wouldn't be able to use my stove.. I thought fine its ONLY TWO DAYS!

Today while I was home cleaning I get a knock on the door (more of a bang), its one of the maintenance asking me if i received a hot plate? I looked at him as if I was retarded because what do I need a hot plate for? Its only going to be TWO DAYS! Turns out the leak was pretty serious and the gas is going to be off for TWO MONTHS!

While I understand they have to repair the line for our safety I'm annoyed! How exactly am I going to live without my stove for 2 months? That hot plate looks like a complete and total fire hazard and is basically burned with this black crap flaking all over it so we are refusing to use it. :main_angry:

Looks like I'll be going on a Raw food diet or anything that can be done in a mircrowave :(

Try getting a rice cooker, you can steam veggies and mix sauces in the microwave then serve them over rice. Its a bit of variety and rice cookers are just awesome IMO.

That's some serious BS! How can a gas leak take 2 months!

I watched a gas main get hit while doing a road widening 4-5 years ago.. literally seen it go! 10 hours later it was fixed with OSHA, HOMELAND SECURITY and DEP holding up the process too! I am talking a 2 foot main!

A friend of mine suggested another thing you can do for food, it'll still be useful after you get gas back online too. Get a crock pot, one of those big slow cooker type things, just throw in some meat and vegetables then turn it on and let it sit all day and enjoy the meal.

And how can a gas leak take 2 months to fix? Are they redoing all the pipes in the building or something?

I dunno I live in the projects, they don't care about us po' folks, lol.. We keep calling with NO answers, management can't even give a definite answer. It took damn near 3months to get the tile in my bathroom installed before my mom called and harassed them and surprisingly they were here in a week.

I'll have to call Help Me Howard to get the gas up and running. Today they went apartment by apartment and basically took all the pipe thingers that connect to the stove and threw them out and then put this blue valve looking thing on. I was home yesturday and most of today and I see the "workers" leave around noon and never come back.
