At what age are your geckos done growing?

Ok, So a fellow GF member and I were discussing our geckos.... Her Leos are bigger than her AFT. I just went to measure mine. My Leo is a yr old and approximately 7inches, (she is a feisty little thing and would not hold still she thought I had food lol) and my AFT is approximately 2 1/2 (I just recently got her from someone else) and she is 7 1/2inches. So at what age are they done growing? Is my Leo too small? They are both fat and healthy (in a non harmful way) Good appetites as well I'm just curious. Exactly what is there length range? All books say different things so I figured I would consult my fellow GF members.

Also I am getting a set of digital scales next week and was curious as to what are good weights for both of them to be at.

hmm ive always thought they stop growing around 1 and a half years, but their wieght can keep growing all the time. Id say 70 - 100 is a good weight.
but others may say different i suppose

Does that mean they stop shedding?

To my knowledge reptiles will shed their entire lives regardless of whether or not they're still growing but the pace at which they shed may decrease. I have read threads that say they do their fastest growth period in the first year of life but it can take until 2 before they are completely "Mature". I presume weight would be variable dependant upon how much/often/what you feed them.

yeh they should all the time. i think there are quite a few factors that affect how often they shed. Ive noticed my geckos dont always have the same time frame between sheds so i dont knwo what makes them take longer or shorter time to start shedding again.

I believe it takes 1.5-2 years to grow to the full potential, if not bred. As Kel mentioned, the growth in the first year is more noticable. My adults still shed once every 2-3 weeks.

Thank you for all the replies!!! I was curious... I have a (approx) 2 1/2 yr old AFT at 7 1/2 inches and my one year old Leo is about 7inches... are those good? Or are they small... my Leo has a big appetite lately so she is sheding a little more than she was but I thought they were suppose to be 8- 10 inches? Everyone says diff things so im just making sure out of curiousity! Again thank you all!

I think size depends on the genetics, it can vary quite a bit. I don't own any AFT so can't comment on that; as for the female leo, 7 inches full length sounds normal, maybe slightly on the small side.

Ok I was just curious... my Leo is a pet store Leo so I was not expecting the best of quality but she is healthy and beautiful either way... I was also measuring cause I would like to get another but if I put it with her I do not want it to be too much bigger even though I doubt shed let anyone get in the way of her food she goes to her dish when she is hungry!

Putting 2 leos together after 1 has been alone for almost 3 years could be hazardous to the new leo despite of size, someone could get hurt if they don't get along. Leos do best as solitary animals usally so be prepared to have another tank ready if you get a new leo.

Oh no you always have an extra tank... even if raised together you never know just like all people and their siblings... I love em but we fight and though grown sometimes the parents still have to seperate us lol. But no neither one been alone that long... my AFT i just got she is 2 1/2 but the people sold them seperately cause a friend wanted his other fat tail for breeding. Plus I have seen my Leo like one but not another so I know the new addition would have to be "Zoe" approved
