Auto Mister?

We are having major problems with our gecko shedding. I am debating getting an automatic mister/fogger, and am wondering if anyone has used one and if it is worth shelling out $40 for. I could just use a hand mister, but its one more thing in my crazy busy day I have to remember to do. I would have no problem getting this if you think it would really help with the shedding problems (toes and eye).

Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks!!

A dogger sounds like a quick way to get a respiratory infection, I wouldn't use one. They sell a spray that is supposed to help reptiles shed, you should be able to get it from your local pet store.
I'm sure you can find a way to spare a couple minutes to spray your Leo, lol..

Wow Tony c I didn't even think of a humid hide. I just got so distracted when I heard fogger. I have only seen a fogger being used in person with a emerald tree boa.

Those foggers pump out some major moisture, that's why I am so against them for a leopard gecko. I use a humid hide and have no problems at all.
A tupperware container with a hole cut in the lid with a inch or less of damp spaghnum moss works perfectly for me.

Do you have a humid hide?

Yes, we do have a humid hide.... Maybe its not set up properly, though.

Basically, it is a tupperware container, with a hole cut in the side and lid.... I wet some paper towels and lay them inside. She does not seem to go into there very often, or at least when I am around. From the replies already, sounds like an auto mister is a bad idea?

Thanks Guys

I use a Tupperware container too with a hole in the lid and in the side. I use spaghnum moss tho. My Leo has been in his humid hide for about 3 days off and on. His last shed was perfect he got it all off no problem.

I think most of our humid hides are the same thing, got to love the tupperwear. Some leos just have problems sheeding ..I also use moss (or vermiculite right now for egg laying but it doesn't stay nearly as moist as moss). I have one female that is terrible at shedding and has lost the tips of some of her toes. I have set up multipule humid hides, changed the sizes, some opened on the top other opened in the front and I would try to soak her if I saw her shed was getting stuck and still she has problems. I have to soak her for like 15 min then try to use tweezers to gently pull the shed off her toes, not fun, and she HATES it. I've also tried aloe cream but doesn't seem to help. I havent been able to find the shed-aid in any of our local pet stores so I may try to order it. I wouldn't recommend a fogger at all. As mentioned above your leo will probably get some sort of respiratory illness.

i have a mister-- for my crested gecko. that would be too much humidity for a leo, though. i use a humid hide and period baths, as well as some shedding aids by silla and soo med, and those have been very helpful.

i took my leo to the vet yesterday for some eye problems she was having related to a bad shed. because i live in colorado and its such a dry climate, he suggested a couple of times a week putting a wash cloth soaked in warm water in a six-pack cooler and letting your gecko hang out in there for a little bit. it creates a little sauna, which is necessary especially since it's so dry here. that way they can have the extra humidty and since the wash cloth has a little bit of a coarse texture, it's good for their skin to rub on a little bit. so i'm looking forward to trying that!
