Hi guys

Just a quick thread about average weights. What weights do your females and males average at?

My curiosity was mainly to see other weights against 3 of my geckos.

One of my Mack Snows. She's nearly 3 now and quite long in the body, which makes her look quite slim but she weighs in at 75.5g. Do you think this is an acceptable weight?

My youngest female of this year is just over a year old and weighs in at 69.5g. Slightly weighty for a young one do you think?

I only have one adult male left now, he's 4 years and has lost a little weight after the stress of moving a few months ago and weighs 89.4g at the moment. Vet said he's still got great body condition but i think he feels a little light.... What you think??

(I had to move and am now lodging with a lady that doesn't mind all the geckos but wasn't too keen on me carrying on breeding, so iv stopped for a while :(. )

Thanks for your help :)

All of them sounds like they are at healthy weights. They do most of their growing during the first year, so often they don't gain a lot of weight after the first couple of years. And more so than weight, you want to look at their body proportion, their tail size, and whether they act healthy & alert or not.

Any rapid weight loss is a concern so tracking their weight helps. But the weight you listed for them all look pretty normal and average, I don't see anything wrong with them. They are definitely not skinny or under weight.

I have normal ones ranging from around 50-60g to 120g+ super giants. So as you can see, there's really no average weight. They are different from gecko to gecko, some are meant to be larger, some are smaller :)
