Hi everyone! This is my first post here. I recently decided that I want to get a crested gecko! I have posted on other forums too, but I like to get as much helpful info as possible :).

So some background: I used to keep white's tree frogs but that didn't go so well for me. I got them both from +++++ at different times. They both seemed nice and healthy for a long time, but after about 6 months one of them started acting off. I quarantined him and got him vet care, but after paying out the butt for medication and trying to save him he died. My other frog was still acting completely normal and healthy but then also died a week later. Husbandry was perfect and I did everything I should have and they died :(. That completely turned me off from getting any pets from a chain store again. I also decided to research what else I could keep in my exo-terra 18x18x24. I came across someone with crested gecko eggs. After a lot of research I decided they seemed awesome!

So here are my main questions:
1. I need to disinfect my viv and decorations, any suggestions on how to do that properly? I'm getting new plants for it, but I would like to try to keep my vines if I can.

2. I'm doing a naturalistic vivarium. Any tips on what cresties might enjoy for a set up (plants, water feature etc.)

3. My new gecko will be about a month old when I get it. I know they're pretty delicate when they're that young and will need a small enclosure for a while. Should I use my cricket keeper or my 10g when it's that young?

Any other info is greatly appreciated too!

Hello! I'm so sorry no one has replied to you sooner! I can't help much with numbers 1 or 2, I usually just use a little bleach and water solution on the tank and rinse thorougly with hot water, then rinse the decor in just hot water. I have NO idea how to do a naturalistic viv but I youtube has some great video examples and information. As to number 3, I would use a Kritter keeper for another month or two, then upgrade to a 10 gallon until the gecko is around 6 months old, then I'd get a 20 gallon or larger. :) The small tall exo-terra is WONDERFUL, I highly reccomend it and it is home to my adult male crested gecko.
