I've hatched 3 Amel Fat Tails this year, and I'm not sure if one of them has eaten yet. It's the same one that hatched out with the umbilical cord still attaching it to the egg. It wasn't a problem, it absorbed and detached the next day. Then the gecko had some shedding problems. I had to soak it a few times and pull some dry skin off to help it shed. That was a few days ago.

I put a few small crickets in there last night again and so far the gecko is scared of the crickets. I don't think they were too big, so I'll just keep trying I guess. I also put a dish with some small mealworms in there last night when I saw that the gecko wasn't eating the crickets. I checked this morning and it didn't look like it ate any of the mealworms.

I'm pretty sure this fat tail will start eating crickets soon, but thought I'd post anyway in case someone has good advice on getting these guys started. Thanks!

Well, it either just ate 4 crickets or they escaped out the air holes in the side of the tub. I put 5 crickets in there and only saw one after an hour or so. So I expect to see some poop in a day or two. I'll keep you posted.

The other two AFT I hatched are looking great. They're really starting to get some nice color. VMS x Screaming Red line. I'll post pics soon.

The little one pooped! I don't know if it ate the last two nights though. I'm hoping I can get it's appetite going better soon. The last few crickets I threw in were dusted, so I'm thinking that maybe the gecko didn't like the calcium taste. Either that or it's just not hungry again yet. I don't want to stress this one out by taking pics, but I will snap some of the first one I hatched soon.
