My daughter has a new baby butter corn snake. We've had him for a week and a half. Last Thursday he happily ate a pinkie. Today we put a pinkie in for him but he's seemingly not interested at all. He's gone back to hiding in his bedding.
I believe she has everything well set up and he seems content - although he does stay hidden most of the time. Could he just not be hungry yet since we fed him a day later than usual last week? The folks who got him for us had been feeding him on Wednesdays (we had to feed him on Thursday last week because a storm kept the delivery from being able to be made.
He is tiny - about 12 - 13 inches long. He is in a 55 gallon tank (large, I know, but what we have from a previous critter). He has UVB light and heat light and an under tank heater for when the lights are off at night. Temp in his viv is in the 80's I think. I can check. Ambient temp in the room never gets below 70.
We're pretty old hat at lizards, but snakes are new so any thoughts would be helpful.
