Hatched out a couple babies Monday night and Well crap...
Found the little one dead just now. Makes me sad :bigcry:
What did I do wrong? Could I have taken him out of the incubator too soon? Was in there for at least 12 hrs. I was just so excited I didnt want to wait another day :(

Looked like there was kind of a reddish brown spot near his spot where he goes bathroom, so maybe bad development?
The other one seems to be doing just fine.
The temp on the hot side is kept at 86, which I hate but needs to be a little low because my boyfriend is keeping a snake on the same rack. I should give his snake the boot. :main_evilgrin:

First baby Ive ever had die on me... Ive hatched out prolly 1-2 dozen babies in the past.
Any ideas would be great... Thanks in advance.

Sometimes hatchlings just have spontaneous internal hemorrhaging, organ failure, what have you. It's not predictable and can happy even to healthy looking babies. Sounds like your hatchling had something very wrong with it that didn't manifest until it was a day old or so.

Sounds like that. I just wanted to make sure I didnt do something wrong. Also if I did then learn from my mistakes.

Sorry for your loss. I can imagine after all that work that it would be upsetting to even lose just one of the little guys. I always say what is meant to be will be. Maybe he would have been very sick if he lived...I hope everything stays well with the others!

Thank you all for your responses and sympathy.
The other one is doing very well and here is a pic after her first shed.
