im currently feeding my new baby crested a mix of crested gecko diet and banana baby food. it should be fine to mix the two right?

It's also pretty warm these days so i'm wondering, will the baby food go bad from sitting there in the tank? the tanks about 78 degrees or so most of the time. it says on the side of the baby food "refrigerate after opening. serve within 2 or 3 days." so keeping it in a warm tank will spoil it no? plus the baby food in the fridge will go bad too? :main_huh:

Actually, baby food goes bad even in a fridge after about 3 days. Why would you be mixing baby food with cgd to begin with? Not to sound harsh, but Allen Repashy (the creator of the diets) has warned users repeatedly of "diluting" those diets with baby food. Most of it is garbage and the stuff that is decent, is so expensive its about cheaper to feed a diet such as the new 2-part, CGD, or GGD.

The reason many people mix baby food in with their cgd is because their rhacs refuse to eat the cgd straight. I am one of them, however the babyfood does go bad quickly and it is a pain. I am in the process of weaning them off of the babyfood, in other words, slowly add more cgd and take away more babyfood in the mixture until they are eating straight cgd. Mine continue to be stubborn however...

I have heard that and am aware, however...

...The only reason it is an issue is because alot of breeders continue to indulge in this generally frowned upon feeding practice...I keep ALOT of Rhacodactylus (5/6 of the species at one time) and have never had one hatch out that didn't take to CGD right away.

There are also other complete diet alternatives such as the Repashy two part system (base+nectar) and initially featured 16 different flavors including many of those that baby food comes in...

Thats fine I know the baby food isn't the best thing for them and mine don't get it alot. As I said they are being weaned, one of them is just starting to eat the cgd straight, the other is a darn stubborn fool...
