Baby Leopard Gecko Isn't Eating.

I got my baby leopard gecko a few days ago and I have left mealworms in a dish in his tank. the tank is aprox 20inches long 10wide, one side is 90F the other side is 78F... he has water, calcium, mealworms, dry hides on both sides and a humid hide in the center. I'm using paper towel as substrate. To my knowledge it appears only 1 mealworm is unaccounted for, but it is possible i miscounted and he hasn't eaten any. I have tried getting the mealworms to squirm around in his sight but he hasn't gone for them. I've had him for 6 days and thought maybe he just needed to acclimate to his new surroundings. I'm going to go get crickets today but i wanted to be sure i wasn't missing anything. Thanks.

EDIT: He doesn't appear to be lethargic and i forgot to mention the mealworms are small mealworms.

It takes these little guys time to get use to their surrounds. It is not unusual for them to stop eating during the acclimation period. Small crickets would help stimulate his hunting talents. Just put a few in, and remove in the AM. Crickets can not stay in their cages. They have tendency to nibble on the geckos. Your step up sounds good. Any poop?

That is still expected. Nothing going in=nothing coming out. I bet the crickets will get him going.

it's been 13 days now and i'm worried. I still don't think he/she has eaten. Anyone else ever have this problem?

I got it from bigappleherp.com .. he hasn't seemed to change behavior much since i've gotten him. He likes to hide a lot and runs away if i move too quickly near him.

this is still very common, have you tried crickets yet? he should be eating now but maybe he just needs a more lively food source. If this continues then a vet visit is a must. Ive heard of a few problems with animals from bigappleherp

Looks like a patternless. Maybe it's still stressed? Give it a few more days, try the crickets and leave the mealworms in his cage like you're doing.

Woot, he's eating crickets. Ate 3 as soon as i put them in. He just needed something to chase i think. Thanks a lot everyone.

With babies you generally want to keep them a little warmer, I'd suggest the 93-95*F range. Your providing a gradient so if it gets too warm he'll move, but the opportunity for a warmer area should be provided imo. Glad you got him off the sand and eating crix. Maybe dropping mealies in by hand instead of a dish would be more appealing. My leo is an adult and won't eat unless they're dropped in.
