So i went to feed another dubia today since she hasn't eaten since last week. i thought she might be hungry. Ok so I put the thing in a dish right but I guess it was a little too big so it was able to pop out of the dish so I put it back in with an index card! Lana finally saw it and went to eat it, but since she's so dramatic she grabbed it by the head and flipped it on to her back! And went running like a wild women into her hide.. Of course I had to go fetch the roach but since it was covered in calcium it was hard to find since it blended into the white paper towel substrate..

:main_angry: These dubias don't seem to be working for me

I don't know why but I have this absolutely HI-LARIOUS mental image of a leo crouching in its hide staring at a roach and screaming :)

LOL!! yeah I have seen some pretty funny stuff happen at dinner time.

Mostly with crickets that tend to jump right at the moment the leo pounces
on it and lands on his head or back.
I also hate it when the cricket hides under a leo, and the leo is turning his
head from side to side looking for the cricket that was there just a second
ago!! :p
Even when I take the back legs off the crix, they can be a bit of a challenge.
I'ts all part of feeding time fun! :main_laugh:
I like to check the cricket and dubia cages in the early morning for the newly
sheds. They seem to mostly shed at night, so if you catch them early, you
can snag some extra special gecko treats.

Soft shell roaches.......ummmmmmmmmm!!! :main_thumbsup:

I got dubias for the first time a few weeks ago and i love them! I think in order to give them a fair chance you need to overcome your fear of them. I wouldnt recommend feeding them via bowl unless you really dont have the time to feed her manually. Dropping them in front of her hide and making sure she sees them usually triggers their hunting instinct, for me at least.

I don't use a bowl when I feed dubias. I just throw some in the tub and leave them in there for 20-30 minutes. After that, I take out the leftovers if there are any.

Good Luck

What a site that must have been.:main_laugh:

I have not fed Roaches, yet.

My Geckos will eat just about anything so far but, Phoenix Worms.

They did once but, not again. Either they do not like them or the medium ones are too small.:main_huh:

I have this one male that hasnt been growing as fast as the one that I bought with him. He doesnt seem as interested in mealworms as his sister is. I know that they were started on roaches but he wasnt even that interested in them. So this is what I did for him. I got a small clear leftovers container. Its about 3 inches in diameter and about 3 inches tall. I taped it to the floor of his enclosure then took a paper towel roll. The cardboard thing, and taped it right next to the food dish. This way he can see his meals and be able to climb up in there when he wants. He has been eating his roaches really well, and I dont have to worry about them crawling out.

I just got home after a long weekend so tomorrow I think I'll remove some of the hides and let her hunt. Her hunting reflexes seem so slow the time I gave her the roach she was interested, licked it and all but it ran into her hide and she just lost interest. it literally takes like 2mins just to eat ONE mealie! She has to inspect it before she can eat it, lol
