Bad shedding problems

My gecko had been having shedding problems for quite some time... but they were never as bad as they are now. I had some things going on so I had to leave him alone for about three days. He had his water, his food, his calcium dish, and I had misted his cage. When I got back, he had shed horribly. He had his previous shed and then he most recent shed stuck on him! His toes, face, eyes, tail, belly, everywhere was stuck shed. So I sprayed his cage about three times a day and put in a new humid hide (the expensive ZooMed one I had for about two years cracked, unfortunately). It got worse so yesterday I bought the Zilla Shed Ease. I did everything it said, put him in the lukewarm water, 10 ML to 16 ounces. Unforunately I couldn't do it for 20 min like it said, he freaked out and put his head under the water... it did get a little shed off, but there's still a lot left. I finally got the shed off one of his nostrils and eyes, but his eyes don't look right.. I don't know what's wrong. Should I take pictures?

- Where was he/she obtained (ex. Pet store, breeder, wild caught, friend)- Pet expo

A) Health/History

- Hides, how many, what kind was three but the zoomed broke, now it's two, a humid hide and normal hide
B) Heating
- Heat source heat pad
- Cage temps (hot side, cool side) hot side is usually about 88 to 94 degrees F, the cool side is room temp (usually 72 degrees F, sometimes lower)
- Method of regulating heat source- thermostat
- What are you using to measure your temps- digital therm with probe
- Do you have any lights (describe) no
C) Cage mates
- How many (males, females) no
- Describe health, or previous problems no

See how bad it looks? It's only been I think, three days? How the heck does this happen in three days? He looks really bad! What's going on here?! In the three years I've had him, never has this happened!

I wouldn't have waited three days. I would have soaked him the moment I noticed stuck shed. I also soak my geckos the moment I see them getting pale in color. then every other day up til after the shed. If I can catch them right before they shed, I soak them really good then let them go shed. i don't offer mine a humid hide so Instead I soak at least twice a week. When close to shedding it's at least three times a week up til they shed. Then i drop to once or twice a week. I also have issues with stuck shed on the toes which is very common. So when I do have that happen, which isn't too often, I normally soak them that same day i see it and use a que tip to slowly and softly rub off the shed. I always make sure to check my gecko all over right after they shed to make sure. There was one once that I had issues with eyes shed and I got that shed off as fast as possible knowing that if left on it will cause issues. best thing I could tell you is take your little buddy to the vet and see how bad the damage is and see what you can do to help it Heal. And also see if he will be able to see or not.

I know, I wish I could've, but I had to deal with some stuff. I will NEVER make this mistake again. His right eye has gotten worse. I think I heard I can put saline in it? Is this true? I tried soaking him but the shed isn't coming off.. it's on good... any suggestions? I made a vet appointment for Wednesday but what I can I do until then? I don't want the eyes to get worse.

Looks like your gecko has corneal ulcers caused by stuck shed scratching his eyes. he'll need a vet visit and antibiotics to clear them up. Soaking him in a gecko sauna every day or two will help as well as dusting his food with D3. Use a warm damp washcloth in a sealed tupperware container for 10-15 minutes for a good soak. Just make sure the "warm" is under 95 degrees when you put him in. A hungry gecko should not care about whether his food is dusted or not. If he is picky it is probably because he doesn't feel well and isn't really hungry. I'd get him to a vet ASAP.
