I'm searching & find that cresties readily accept fresh fruit. So far my guy isn't too keen on his CGD, in time, I know, in time. I was having a banana this evening & cut the end off mushed it up & stuffed it back in the banana peel. My guy gave it 4 thumbs up.

Is fresh fruit to cresties like wax worms to leos? Strictly a delicious dessert to be served infrequently?

I have read before that is is fine to mix with CGD. CGD is basically just dried fruit. I have always been tempted to try fresh fruit, but never know what to do. I think I read that they like over ripe things, like browning bananas.

Thanks Sandy. He really did love the banana. Guess I'll be saving the end of my breakfast banana for him more often.

LOL-the things that we do for our geckos

We always fed ours natural fruit baby food and they LOVED it espeecially the papaya and other tropical fruit flavors (banana and berries too!) Of course we gave them CGD too but they loved the baby food more! Try mixing in with their CGD if you do not want them to get "addicted" to the straight baby food.

While I do encourage feeding fresh (non-citrus) fruit to various geckos species, nixing with a nutritionally complete recipe (Any of Allen's Rhacodactylus complete diets) is at least competing with its ability to remain a complete diet. On the other hand, his (Allen's) newer 2-part system with a base and nectar component; the nectar portion can be exchanged [with generally no detriment] with fresh fruit or yogurt. Just my opinion...
