The only way you can be sure that they are completely healthy and have no mites is to take them to the vet. The only real difference between them and leopard geckos is the amount of food intake and then the size of the enclosure, as I am sure you know. Good Luck!

I have been keeping/breeding Banded Geckos for years, and have several wild-caught specimens. I have never seen any with mites... I think thier skin/scale structure is to tight for the mites to get under. Besides, they are such small geckos mites would be very obvious.

Make sure to quarintine them from your other reptiles and check your local Fish and Game for any laws about catching and keeping them. You may need a permit or might just need a fishing liscence. Let me know what you find out.

Which species lives there (scientific name)? "Coleonyx" shouldn't be very hard to care for, but the differences between the species are pretty big, depending on the species (hot and dry or cool and moist). Lucky you that you can catch 'em there. I have to buy them for quit some money.... ;)

Greets,
