This may seem like a weird question but one of my adult albino leopard geckos always seems to be "wading" in there water dish. Is this normal for them to do?

I've only ever seen leos in a water dish when they're being roasted under lights at a pet store. Using any heat lamps in your setup? Have your UTH set too high?

Cheaton:
The lamps we are using are on the opposite end of the cage and don't go above 90*.

Stitch:
No matter where we move it to it could be the only item in the cage and she will manage to go right to it and just lay in it.

Iv seen leo's go into there waterbowl when there about to shed or soon to shed. They like the moisture. Yours might be a newt/leopard gecko hybrid! :main_laugh:

I would say most likely they are to hot, and trying to cool off in the water dish. I use a light but very limited and its also a inferred 25 watt bulb.

Mostly i use the light for supplemental heat source for a quick warm up then turn it off. Repti-Shelter are in my opinion the best thing for hides!

2 medium size repti Shelters with moist coconut husk works well beyond anything i have tried. Your geckos will tell you the same trust me!:main_thumbsup:

Also i dont know what everyone else does for tank temps but i stay about 75-80 degrees ambient tank temp, a hot side right around 90 (Floor) and cool side floor between 68-75. 5 hides total for 2 geckos, 2 on warm side 2 on cool side and one right in the middle!

They both shed overnight and i cant find not one remnant of a shed by morning not even on a toe or a tail.
