Well, Floridians are preparing for our first tropical storm of the year. "Fay" is lumbering her way up towards the west coast and should be gracing us with her presence sometime around 2pm on Tuesday.
The gas stations are already packed with cars fueling up and god help ya if you want to find a battery in this town. After the 4 hurricanes we got hit with back in 2004, everyones a bit gun-shy when it comes to preparing.

Gotta get some water wings for these animals. Do they make floaties for reptiles and spiders?

Hope all you other Floridians weather the storm alright!

Good luck with the storm, hope it stays weak for my home state of Florida. I'm a veteran of 3 hurricanes and they're never fun. Stay safe!

Well, we're starting to get alot of feeder bands now. The dragon flies are swarming and there isn't a bird to be seen. Safe to say, "Here she comes!"

I'm kinda hoping it comes over my part of florida..lol..it isn't going to be much of a storm, unless it stays out in the gulf longer then expected. Don't get me wrong, a hurricane isn't nothing to laugh at but a low-mid Cat 1 is more of just a bad storm with a bit more wind then usual..lol..I love it when the gusts come through and you can see the trees bending and the howling of the wind. It will be fun unless it gets alot stronger

I don't mind the storm itself so much as the aftermath of no power and crowded streets and such. I work for the Medical Examiner's Office, too, so there will be the influx of idiots running generators in their living rooms.

The really bad part is I have a momma tarantula sitting on an egg sack right now and the low drop in barometric pressure may cause her to ultimately abandon her eggs.

Yeah, loosing the power isn't fun. 2yrs ago a Cat 2 came very close to my county and we had winds near 80mph and I must say that it was something to see. I spend most of the time on my front porch just watching and listening to the wind. We lost power for 4 days but my wife's parents lived 20 miles away and somehow kept power so it wasn't bad at all. I guess I don't mind small hurricanes since I live in a brick house but I guess it's kinda scary for people that live in a trailer

Thanks, Bex.
BTW- I love your signature. One of my favorite native quotes. Next to, "A nation is not conquered until the hearts of its women are on the ground."
