its normal, put some type of shelter in the enclosure. some old eggs carton pieces will work great.

they do that for the first few days. dont worry about it. soon they will figure it out, and probably burrow into the substrate.

Beetles Flipped over David!

They love orange skins....cup the skin pieces like a hide......they will eat it from the inside to the bitter end, and groups will gather inside to breed, along with the great gut loaded worms you will have ( note, I tried egg cartons, worms will surface to it and eat on the carton).....It is easy to collect worms, but you are then feeding paper products to your geckos.... take care. if you are housing your beetles and worms seperate you wont have this problem.

i have several plastic bins, with the various life cycles in each different one.
as soon as mine turn to beetles they get there own container until they lay more mealies which takes a while, then i pull them out and put into a different container. keep this process going and before you know it you wont have to buy feeders. unless you have many geckos such as some of us and they eat lots of mealies every week.

when my beetles flip over on their back they can't get themselves back upright, I looked in their, and a beetle was upside down, i went in their 6 hrsd later and he still was. What should i do. The life stages are housed seperately, they don't flip themselves back over

Beetles don't need that much of My time.(flip side)

I know what's good for one is not always good for another. I've tried meal worm raising all types of ways. The best for me, as about 10,000 worms kept in one container, along with beetles, aliens, eggs, small worms, medium worms, large ones.......and supporting a good supply all the time, is as the third method I tried. No separating. Using bran, chick starter, carrots, and orange peel...... Separating them was a pain in the orange-peel to me, but everyone is welcome to the method right for Them.Take care. HJ

They can survive under the oats......just cover them up with your oats...they will dig and eat and you can get on with watching the geckos....see that you have a moisture item in the box. Like the ideal carrot or the end slice of an orange. Take care. HJ

I also find that mine hide/huddle under apple slices, as well as orange. Something to climb on/under really does seem to help them keep themselves 'righted'. lol
