hi all, i've been looking to buy a male bell enigma for a while now, i live in the uk and while there are a few breeders offering them for sale this season most adults look like hypo's with red eyes, i have however found a pic of an enigma that i realy like
here's a link http://www.reptileforums.co.uk/liza...ed-enigma-leopard-gecko.html?highlight=enigma
he is the one with lavender on him and i was wondering if anybody knew if the black pigment and lavender were the result of lower incubation temps like chocolate tremper albinos or if it was down to the enigma genes?

May I ask why you are looking for a Bell? From your sig. most of your females are Tremper Line. You would be better off with a Tremper Enigma het Raptor or a Enigma Raptor. :main_thumbsup: Sorry I see you have one bell female. JMO.

my female enigma is a non albino and she proved not to be het bell so i'm breeding her with my raptor male,to produce het trempers this year and from these hets, trempers next season :)
i only have space at the moment to house 10 geckos individualy untill i move into my new house next year and i want the ones i like most. and the black and lavender bell enigma is my all time fave morph.
and my snow bell needs a boyfriend too:p

Well then there you go, go ahead and get the Bell then. It's a very Good lloking Leo I really like the Square head markings. I think color is more determined by genetics and selective breeding. Temp is a factor as far as color but I think genetics and selective breeding plays a bigger role.JMO

that gecko is sold, no longer available:eek: and i read somewhere that only 30odd percent of pigment is inherited and the rest is incubation temp dependant and i wanted to know if cooler incubation temps make bell enigmas have more black markings?
all the bells in the uk are very hypo looking as adults but thats not the look i'm after, i want a bell enigma that looks like a bold normal but with red eyes

It has nothing to do with temps... It all depends on the parents that produced the Enigma... Enigmas cross pretty easily with Hypos and you'll get Hypo Enigmas in the first generation... Most people are crossing them with Hybinos and that is why you see so many...

Btw, I also like the boldly marked ones more...

so incubation temps have no affect on the amount of dark pigment? is that what you're saying? it affects tremper albino's, thats how you get chocolates, by incubating at low temps but it doesn't affect bells? surely that can't be right

Michael is right. The Rain Water and Bell albino color is not effected by incubation temp like the Tremper albino is.
